A gift is defined as something given out of natural love and affection, without any expectation of receiving anything in return. There are different rules for gifting to family, relatives, and friends in income tax, but the gift should always be genuine and non-reciprocal. It is important to have a gift deed for gifting a property, along with paying stamp duty and registration charges.
